The Special Judicial Training

Svea Court of Appeal is the largest court of appeal in the country with approximately 430 employees. The court's premises are beautifully located on Riddarholmen in central Stockholm. The court hires about 50 court clerks each year. At each recruitment occasion, several applicants are accepted. Becoming a clerk is the step after serving as a trainee. The judicial training includes service in both the court of appeal and the district court.

About the Judicial Training

The judicial training consists of practical service in the district court and court of appeal, as well as theoretical education organized by the Court Academy. It can be likened to a trainee program, and the practical service is a very important part of the training. In addition to the common courses within the framework of the Court Academy, the court of appeal and district courts provide additional training. The court of appeal has overall responsibility for the judicial training throughout the training period.

The practical part of the training includes serving as a clerk in the court of appeal for at least one year, as a clerk in the district court for at least two years, and an adjunct position in the court of appeal for one year. The clerk/acting assessor constitutes a significant workforce for the court throughout the judicial training. The clerk's/acting assessor's work should be planned so that the tasks contribute to achieving the goals of the judicial training. The Court Academy is responsible for the theoretical education, which consists of nine mandatory courses during the judicial training.

The judicial training provides a unique opportunity to acquire extensive legal knowledge and experience from different courts. Choosing the judicial career means that you will contribute daily to a democratic and legally secure society where you work for everyone's right to have their case heard in an impartial court.

Qualifications, etc.

To begin the special judicial training, you must have completed the trainee education. Work in the court requires that accepted clerks meet high standards regarding professional skill and judgment.

The employment begins with a six-month probationary period. After a successful probationary period, the employment will transition to permanent.

In the application form, there is a mandatory question about whether you, as an applicant, are applying for both regular and designated positions.
